I loved the idea of being coached by one of my peers. While I love gaining insight from my supervisor and CT, I feel that my fellow interns can have some valuable input to our teaching. The intern from the classroom next door observed me. He mentioned that I do a very good job of using my “teacher voice”. Something that he also mentioned that was interesting was that I do a good job of facilitating my focus student, which is unusual. Since she is autistic, not many people would know how to deal with her in a classroom setting. Because I have had a semester to learn all her quirks, dislikes, likes and social boundaries I have had plenty of practice getting to know her and gaining her trust so I can now start implementing interventions to progress her learning.
