This semester I have been introduced to many new and fun ways to facilitate learning, a wordle being one of them. After writing many diversity case study reflections, I was able to create my own wordle and include words from the paragrphs that I had written that really stood out with great importance. I have discovered after making a wordle from my own words, how beneficial it can be. From looking at the wordle I created, I am able to point out words in my paragraphs that I also found to be very important.
When thinking of diversity, these are the words that come to mind. As an educator, this semester has revealed to me how important it is to celebrate every child's diversity but never make them feel so different that they feel left out. Diversity can be a beautiful thing, if it is handled in the right way. In my classroom, there were many times that my collaborating teacher would encourage spanish speaking students to not only talk about a word in english but also in spanish. There was even a time when we read a book that had an english side to it and a spanish side. I believe that this made those students feel like they had something special about them without making the english speaking students feel left out or not as special. This semester has made me realize the importance of diversity and how important it is to be aware of the diversity in the classroom.
