Every day that I am in my classroom, I find my focus student improves more and more. I cannot help myself but find myself wondering how I can constantly improve his learning experience. Because I know he loves being able to show his creativy and do hands on activities, I have tried to adjust my lessons to better accomodate him and his learning environment.
Next week, I have a lesson planned for the book, "There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Bat," by Lucille Colandro. Instead of just doing a read aloud and having them write about the story I plan to make a poster with the old lady on it and then pass out pictures of the ghost, bat, cat, bones and other objects for student to stick in the old lady's stomach while we read this story. This will help them listen effectively to the story and give them a fun interactive way to comprehend.
